Cook County 2022 Second Installment Tax Bills are Scheduled to be Due on December 1, 2023

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has recently issued a statement that the second installment 2022 real estate tax bills will issue late again this year.  Board President Preckwinkle has stated that the second installment 2022 tax bills are expected to be released online and by mail by early November with a due date of December 1, 2023.

The Cook County Board of Review’s 2022 tax appeal session is winding to a close right now and once their appeal session is completed, the Board of Review transmits its final assessments to the Cook County Clerk’s Office – Tax Extension Department to determine what the 2022 Cook County Equalization Factor and 2022 local tax rates will be to satisfy the budgets of Cook County’s 38 townships and all of the taxing districts within those townships.  The Cook County Treasurer’s Office then publishes and mails out the tax bills after the Cook County Clerk’s Office has finalized the Cook County Equalization Factor and local tax rates.

The second installment 2021 tax bills were due historically late on December 30, 2022.  Although the second installment 2022 tax bills will be out earlier than last year, they are still being issued much later than the targeted early August due dates as had been routinely met by the previous Assessors administrations in prior tax years.
