2025 Cook County Second Installment Tax Bills are now online and are due on October 1, 2026
Cook County property owners can now go to the Cook County Treasurer’s website – www.cookcountytreasurer.com to view, download and pay their second installment tax bill for the 2025 tax year. The Cook County Treasurer’s office plans to mail 1.8 million tax bills to Cook County property owners on or before September 1, 2026 and the second installments will be due a month later on October 1, 2026.
Property owners can pay online at www.cookcountytreasurer.com and then select the blue box labeled “Pay Online for Free” and enter the property address or Property Index Number (PIN).
There is no fee to pay by transferring funds directly from your bank account and payments can be made 24 hours a day.
Credit card payments are also accepted, but carry a 2.08% convenience fee paid to the credit card. Online payments are also secure and eliminate the risk of a check being stolen from the mail.
Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas has stated “If you want to be proactive and pay now so you don’t have to think about it, paying online is the best way to do so.”
Cook County Taxpayers can also pay the real estate tax payments at nearly 400 Chase Bank locations in Illinois, including banks outside of Cook County, or at least more than 100 participating community banks. You must bring your physical bill or a copy of it, if you choose to pay in person at a bank.
Cook County taxpayers can also pay their tax bills at the Cook County Treasurer’s Office at 118 N. Clark Street, Room 112 in downtown Chicago. Lastly, real estate tax payments can be mailed at Cook County Treasurer’s Office, with the taxpayer’s PIN, contact and property information included. The cancelled check serves as the receipt.
